The Chivas USA problem

I get it. Partnering with a major Mexican club and creating a sister team in MLS to help draw Mexican-American fans and being more global attention to the league. It was a nice idea. Let's stop the madness. I don't think that it was a bad idea in theory. However, it really looks like a bad idea right now. I hope MLS learns from this mistake and maybe New York City FC (or whatever they're going to call it) is a different situation. Who knows? Now Manchester City is going to brand a team in NYC and I like the fact that there are going to be two teams in New York, but come on now, a Man City owned team?? Didn't we already try this with Chivas USA??? How well did that work out? Chivas USA was supposed to be a feeder team for Guadalajara and they couldn't even get THAT right! What happened to the NY Cosmos? Do they plan to ride it out in NASL? Really?? How long is that going to last? I know I am ranting too much about teams that aren't even in my own city, but I care about the growth of soccer in this country. And caring about how MLS conducts their business IS important to me. For what it's worth, I do want to see the NY Cosmos be in MLS and I think it will just be a matter of time before it becomes reality. They have a global brand and are still very well known throughout the world. Marcos Senna just signed for them! you can say that he is 100 years old but he still had a major role in Villarreal's promotion to La Liga this past season and he decided to sign with a 2nd division North American club! Big name players usually don't sign with American 2nd division clubs so I think it is a pretty big deal. So getting back to Chivas USA, the time has come for a change there. Move the team, re-brand, whatever. Just do it for our sakes and for their small fan base that is dwindling by the day. Frankly, I don't care if the team stays in LA or not. Just re-brand the team. It just has to happen. NOW!

Juan Pablo Angel and Guillermo Barros Schelotto Highlight the Re-Entry Draft List

Juan Pablo Angel and Guillermo Barros Schelotto Highlight the Re-Entry Draft List of established MLS veterans. Personally, I think either one would be a prefect fit for the Union along with Jimmy Conrad who would solidify our backline and provide some leadership to a young group of players. What do you think?

Rumor: Ervin Skela coming soon?

MLS-Rumors.net is reporting that midfielder Ervin Skela might be joining the Union sometime before the end of the transfer window. He is a 33 year old Albanian international that has played for several clubs over his 17 year career. Not sure if there is any truth to this rumor, especially since the midfield looks to be pretty crowded already with the Union's most recent acquisitions. Nevertheless, here is a look at Ervin's biography on wikipedia.
